Manuel Aravena

Manuel obtained his undergraduate degree in Astronomy at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in 2005. After this, he moved to Germany to conduct his Ph.D. studies at RFW Universität Bonn and Max-Planck Institute for Radioastronomy, obtaining his degree in 2009. He spent 2.5 years as a postdoctoral fellow at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO), in Charlottesville, VA, and then, in 2011, he obtained an ESO postdoctoral fellowship to conduct research and participate in the commissioning of the ALMA observatory. Since 2014, he is a professor at the Instituto de Estudios Astrofísicos (IEA) of the Universidad Diego Portales (UDP) in Santiago, Chile. During 2020-2021, he served as director of the IEA.
